Best Time To Visit
The best time to visit the place is during summer between April and May, because of its elevated height. During winter, snow causes this place to be dangerous to reach and also unbearably cold. The same is the issue for the monsoons.
Lachung Monastery
Lachung Monastery is amid apple orchards across the scenic Lachung Chu river. It lies at the height of about 2,750 m and forms the base of the Green Lake trek. A cultural and religious heritage emblem, Lachung Monastery, has a tower installed in 1806 by the Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism. It also has a statue of Guru Padmasambhava, one of the founding fathers of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is a tiny and colorful structure with a two-story prayer hall.
